A Sports-Physiological Study on Long-Distance Run as a Event of the Physical Fitness Test for Entrance Examination





Abstract
The following results have been obtained by the physiological measurements of the subjects of 38 middle and high scool girl students in their 800m running:
1. The curve of dash velocity shows an opposite form of that for the sprints.
2. The velocity in the study state is 0.21 horse power (approximately3.0m/sec), which in equivalent to the level maintained by 40% of the first0rate champions.
3. There has beenfound a conspicuous increase in the number of heartbeats within 30 seconds from the start of the running.
4. The wstimated out put volume of the haert basets in terms of the maximal oxygen uptake is 13.21/m on an average (28.9ml/kg/m), which is simlar to the levelshown by foreigners of the same age group.
5. The maximal owygen uptake is 1.49l/m, and the oxygen dabt, 2.321/m
6. The rate of oxygen uptake approaches the maximal level within 3 minutes after the initiation of exercises including the warm-up.
7. The increase in the value of hematocrit, rightafter the start of runnung, is 2% as a whole.
8. Seventeen of the 38 subjects are found to be harboring parasites.
9. The level of 800m running is reasonable for the middle and high school girl students who are in the environment of strict health management.
